Samsung intends to make your kitchen experience even more seamless with its new app, SmartThings Cooking, debuted at the virtual CES 2021 conference and produced in collaboration with Whisk’s Food AI to create “personalized cooking experiences.”
I’ve never felt the need for the Samsung Family Hub display on an appliance that keeps my food from spoiling. Now I see a need. This year, the display can show custom recipes from Samsung’s SmartThings Cooking service, powered by Whisk AI. Samsung Next bought Whisk AI, and this is the result. The fridge will suggest personalized recipes based on your preferences, even showing step-by-step video preparation instructions.
With both Whisk and Tastemade in your Samsung kitchen, you can discover new recipes and turn them into delicious meals with minimal effort… The partnership with Samsung and Whisk will make it easier for Tastemade followers to turn inspiration into home cooked dishes, by connecting the “what” to cook with the “how” to plan their meals.
This could be the year where shoppable recipes and appliance integration take off. We are coming off a record year of online grocery shopping, thanks to the pandemic, so more people than ever are accustomed to buying groceries, including perishables, online. So the logical next step is tying together all of the threads in the meal journey: discovery, selection, access, and instruction.
In 2019, Samsung bought a startup named Whisk, which aids in the commerce side of recipes…By breaking recipes down into elements, Samsung is better able to help you shop for them, study your caloric intake and its impact on your health … and down the road, guide you through the steps of a recipe.
